Things have changed. It wasn’t long ago that a typical integrator would’ve been surprised at the premise of potentially including human body temperature screening solutions in their portfolio. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a new set of business challenges for integration customers, as NSCA’s 2020 Pivot to Profit Series of business transformation content demonstrates.
During 2020 Pivot to Profit Virtual, VIRALERT attracted lots of attention from integrators interested in learning more about its innovative solutions. To learn more, check out this P2P Series white paper:
How Human Body Temperature Screening Can Support the Safe Reopening of Businesses and Public Facilities
From 2020 P2P Sponsor VIRALERT:
Implemented alongside the core countermeasures, human body temperature screening can be accomplished by a number of different methods, with variable levels of accuracy, reliability, and ease of use.
One of the most accurate—but least practical—methods is to use a calibrated rectal thermometer to measure core body temperature.
This is far from ideal in encouraging staff, customers, or visitors to return to a business or leisure facility, obviously.
Non-contact thermometers offer a more practical solution, but rarely offer the accuracy required.
Many of these instruments have a margin of error of ±2 °C (±3.2 °F) or greater, which is likely to generate a significant number of false positives or false negatives when detecting elevated temperatures.
