To help better explain what NSCA is, what we do, and what our members do, our board of directors took the time to document the significance of NSCA in the industry and to their own integration firms. Through a series of blog posts, we’ll reveal what they had to say. These statements were captured during a 2015 strategic planning session as we examined the industry and contemplated NSCA’s role as the voice, business resource, and trusted advisor for the channel and the systems integrator.
Next to share his expertise is NSCA Board Member Josh Shanahan, who is also president at SVT.
NSCA is an always-present, strong voice to advocate who we are and what we stand for, and to protect our interests while preserving best practices from the past. It provides great peace of mind to allow systems integrators to focus on the business challenges at hand.
With powerful, relevant, and comprehensive resources, better decisions can be made. When the answer isn’t as clear as we might want it to be, or when an expansion of a thought process may be required, an educated, trusted advisor is the only answer. This is NSCA, an organization that is manufacturer and integrator agnostic, providing education and resources holistically to the systems integration industry in an effort to cultivate strong, sustainable, and profitable businesses.
Without the voice and the resources NSCA provides, and most certainly without the trusted advice that has been provided over the past few years in particular, my company would cease to exist – and so would the companies of many others.
Our industry is evolving, with so many catalysts for change. In the future, NSCA will provide insight backed by objective data and supported with expert advice to assist its members with the many challenges that lie ahead. Challenges in our industry are not necessarily unique; every business faces change, evolution of client expectations, differences in purchasing practices and habits, and value or devaluation of services. NSCA focuses on how these challenges specifically impact the systems integration business in a proactive and deliberate manner. NSCA is my voice, resource, and trusted advisor; for as long as my business exists, my membership, association, and participation with NSCA will remain critical. -Josh Shanahan, NSCA Board Member, 2011 – Present
