Episode 4 of our Emerging Technologies Committee’s Beer & Bull video podcast, hosted by AVNation, explores challenges related to getting integration companies back to work and our role in our customers’ return to work.
We’re not alone. Pretty much the entire world is grappling with return-to-work related challenges. As integrators, however, we come at it from a different perspective …
It’s not just about our own employees’ safe and productive return to work; it’s also about how we can pivot our offerings and leverage our security and AV solutions to help our customers get back to what they do.
This Beer & Bull podcast conversation with the NSCA Emerging Technologies Committee is about stepping up to help our customers when they need it most. “Stepping Up When It Counts” is the theme of NSCA’s 23rd annual Business & Leadership Conference, where this conversation will continue.
The Beer & Bull video podcast is hosted by Mike Abernathy, NSCA’s director of business resources. Episode 4 guests are:
- Tim Hennen, CTO, IVCi
- Dan Dunkel, Managing Director of Managed Security Services Practice, PSA Security Network

What is NSCA’s Emerging Technologies Committee?
NSCA has tapped top innovation and technology specialists within its membership to provide guidance to the NSCA board of directors and members. The committee offers insight – through video podcasts and other platforms – on emerging trends to ensure that NSCA members aren’t blindsided by adjacent industries, advanced technology, or innovation that obsoletes or devalues our solutions and service offerings.
The forward-thinking industry professionals on the committee analyze enabling and disruptive technologies to help build awareness within the NSCA community.
Additional goals of the Emerging Technologies Committee:
- Provide a futurist view of the most impactful technologies
- Add clarity to what our industry’s future scope could look like
- Allow NSCA members to explore new business opportunities based upon emerging trends that influence businesses
What is Beer & Bull?
The concept of “Beer & Bull” is simple – getting together with like-minded individuals to talk about a passion topic while perhaps enjoying a beverage. NSCA introduced its Beer & Bull concept at our annual Business & Leadership Conference (BLC) several years ago. This was a lively discussion about business topics, usually situated toward the end of the three-day event – when attendees were particularly thirsty.
It was a great annual session that spurred memorable dialog. We’re constantly evolving our BLC content and haven’t had a “Beer & Bull” session for the last few years. We still love the concept, however, and decided to bring it back in the form of a video podcast. Instead of enjoying our beers together at BLC, our host, panelists, and attendees are encouraged to tip a glass of their own during the discussions. (Yes, we might discuss our beverage choices a little bit.)
