Independent Design Consultant: Includes independent design firms
providing consulting services in acoustics, audio/video, life safety,
networking, computer systems, or other related electronic systems
technology. These firms do not sell products, represent product lines or
install systems. The consultant category is for individuals or companies
whose revenues are generated from offering expertise and design services
on an hourly, retainer, or per-project fee basis. This category does not
include contractors with a design-build business section within their
company, or who provide design services as part of their contracting
business. NSCA consultant members shall not provide on-going
maintenance or service to installed systems beyond the initial
commissioning, programming, or required inspection phases of a project.
