Stabilize Health Insurance Costs with your NSCA Membership

Newest Insurance Solution Accepting Enrollment Now; Set to Launch Jan. 1

Enrollment into NSCA’s newest member benefit, the ground-breaking SystemsPlus Health Solutions, has opened with a launch date of January 1, 2009. SystemsPlus Health Solutions is a proprietary system of TrueNorth, the exclusive independent insurance agency for SystemsPlus programs. A companion program to the existing Casualty Solutions, SystemsPlus Health Solutions was designed to provide more stable, large-group insurance pricing for NSCA members. Plus, because it was designed specifically for NSCA members, SystemsPlus representatives truly understand the industry and what members do, which allows them to participate in a plan that helps stabilize costs and ensures coverage availability.

NSCA worked with TrueNorth to develop and offer a common self-insured health plan and form a mutual stop-loss carrier. NSCA then created SystemsPlus Mutual Insurance Company (SPMIC) and the NSCA Member Plan Master Trust, both strategically located in Vermont. Plan participants will receive access to providers nationwide through the national BlueCard® program. Access is provided through an agreement between the Trust and Comprehensive Benefits Administration, Inc., dba CBA Blue, a Vermont-based third-party administrator and independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. As a mutual insurance company, SPMIC is designed to distribute a portion of its net profits back to its policyholders.

Eligible NSCA member companies have shown an overwhelming interest in taking advantage of the medical, dental, vision, life and prescription drug benefits. Small- and medium-sized businesses especially will appreciate the program as they can gain the pricing advantages usually reserved for larger, corporate employers. Additionally, because SystemsPlus Mutual Insurance Company is owned by participating policyholders, businesses have the potential to earn premium credits for future years. Companies enrolled in SPMIC also can benefit from wellness initiatives, which promote healthy living by covering 100 percent of regular check-ups. As wellness initiatives reduce claims, the opportunities for premium credits increase. Participants are also automatically enrolled to receive enhanced financial reporting for claims and benefits.

NSCA corporate members are eligible to enroll in the program if they meet the minimum requirement of 10 full-time employees enrolled in the health program. Businesses can enroll in the program at any time, regardless of when their current coverage renews. Even businesses without a current health plan are eligible to participate.

For additional information regarding coverage options or to obtain a customized proposal, contact Danielle Rings at drings@systemsplus.org or 319.861.8637. Visit www.systemsplus.org for full information on the program, a link to the national provider network directory and enrollment forms.

Due to overwhelming interest in the program, please contact SPMIC for a quote no earlier than 60 days prior to your renewal date. Companies interested in moving their effective date to January 1, 2009, may call earlier if they meet all other program requirements.
