Want to get certified?

Follow these steps toward industry certification.

Step 1: Decide what level of certification is right for you.

  • I am entry-level installer with less than one year of experience: ESPA Certified-EST®
  • I have at least one to three years of experience as a practicing technician in the industry: NSCA EST-L2

Be sure to review the outlines of exam content (the job classification systems), which are posted on each corresponding certification page of our website.

Step 2: Assess your strengths and weaknesses.
The pre-test assessment allows you to better determine your course of study and helps you decide if you are prepared to take a certification exam. It shows your current strengths and weaknesses through a score report that’s broken down by exam domain (the exam sections that are presented in the outline of exam content). Pre-test assessments are available for the both the ESPA and NSCA exams. The NSCA Assessment is $49.

Note: By clicking the NSCA Assessment you will navigate away from the NSCA website. Once at the assessment page, you will see a list of different choices, click on Exam Registration. Next, pick NSCA from the Organization drop down menu and choose EST-L2 Assessment from the Exam drop down menu. If you have any difficulties or have additional questions, please contact Ann Roushar at NSCA by email at aroushar@nsca.org or by phone at 800-446-6722.

Visit www.espa.org for information on the ESPA assessment.

Step 3: Determine how best to prepare for the exam.
NSCA offers a live review and an online review for the exam in addition to references to help you study:

Other NSCA classes and seminars regionally throughout the year and online may also be valuable preparation for the test.

ESPA offers an online, self-paced review or an instructor-led review. Visit www.espa.org for more information.

Step 4: Register for an exam.
Complete and return this application to register for the exam. Then, locate a proctored testing facility near you or contact NSCA to register for the written exam at a scheduled event. Once your application is approved, you will receive instructions on how to pay for and schedule your exam.
